In the third period, Mack answered for Great Falls with a goal at 5:25 with a helper from Rath. Mack netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 13:38 with an assist from fellow Americans forward Fary. Rieger answered for Helena with a goal at 19:11 with helpers from Kottmeier and Dietz.
The Americans’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Sharp’s big night as he stopped 36 of the 38 shots he faced. Sharp’s counterpart, Battaglia, also had a big night, managing to stop 39 of 42, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Great Falls Americans’ record to (12-3-2-0).
