Thank You for a great season, GF AMERICANS!!
A special thanks to the Great Falls American hockey players who we have enjoyed watching during the 2021-22 season and all the staff, from owners Jim Keough/Rob Rasmussen to Americans general manager/head coach Greg Sears to the game night staff, who helped make another season at the Great Falls Ice Plex successful.
The Great Falls Americans finished the 2021-22 junior hockey regular season in fourth place (out of eight teams) in the North American 3 Hockey League’s Frontier Division with a record of 22-20-3-2 including an 11-5-0-1 record at the Great Falls Ice Plex. The Americans advanced to the NA3HL Playoffs again this season.
The #4 Americans won their first round (NA3HL Frontier Division Play-In Series) against first-year member, the Badlands (SD) Sabres (19-27-2-1) in two games in the best-of-three series.
Great Falls advanced to the Frontier Division Semi-Finals where they met the top-ranked Helena Bighorns (44-3-2-0). Great Falls battled hard but fell short in two contests in the best-of-three series.
The Americans finished with an overall record (including playoffs) with a 24-22-3-2 record.
As the Public Relations/Media Coordinator for the team, I want to thank the NA3HL officials for providing me with all the stats for the home games and for making sure I had all the correct information for the game summaries that are published on our website. I also would like to thank all the team sponsors — too many to list — who make our team possible. Thanks also to Megan Lewis for her fine work as the home HockeyTV Play-By-Play broadcaster this season and her son, JJ, who ran the camera for HockeyTV, Serena Sears, Americans Billet Coordinator, and the GF Ice Plex rink staff for getting the rink ready for each home contest. Thanks also to Dustin Bauer for providing the terrific photos throughout the season that are on our website (gfamericans.com) Last, but not least, the Americans want to thank all the fans and billet (host) families and the player’s families who supported and came out to watch them in action.
Thanks also to the media outlets including the Great Falls Tribune, ABC/FOX Montana (KFBB), 406 Montana Sports, and KRTV (CBS) for their great hockey coverage during the season. Thanks also to Randy Bogden at Cherry Creek Radio for doing the weekly coach interviews in his sports report on Wednesdays. We hope to see the fans back during the 2022-23 season in September.
