Michael Houlihan led the way with a hat trick as the Great Falls Americans crushed the Missoula Junior Bruins 9-1 in a home game at Glacier Ice Rink in Great Falls. Moreover, the Great Falls Americans' offense had a big night, peppering Missoula with 56 shots throughout the game. The Great Falls Americans took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Kyler Mack and never looked back.
Cody Dearing did his part, adding 2 goals and Kody Thomas contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the first period, Houlihan opened the scoring for the Americans with a goal at 12:46 with helpers from his linemates, Fary and Rath. Mack quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 13:21 with an assist from Vandenbos.
In the second, Rath netted a goal at 7:47 with helpers from his linemates, Fary and Houlihan. Dearing quickly followed with a goal at 9:40 with assists from his linemates, Mcsharry and Janke. Dearing put in a goal at 16:38 with a helper from his teammate Mcsharry. Weston quickly followed with a goal at 17:15 with assists from Thomas and Juliussen.
In the third, Thomas scored a goal at 1:04 with helpers from his linemates, Janke and Juliussen. Houlihan quickly followed with a goal at 1:42 with an assist from defenseman Rachow. Houlihan deposited a goal at 8:09 with helpers from Richesin and Rath. Blondin finally put Missoula on the board with a goal at 19:35 with assists from Cottle and Jaffe.
The Americans’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Sharp as he stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced. Sharp’s counterpart, Yoder, also had a big night, managing to stop 9 of 11, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Great Falls Americans’ record to (16-5-2-0).
