FRISCO, TX., April 18, 2018 — During the 2018 NA3HL Entry Draft on Wednesday, the Great Falls Americans Junior A Hockey team have drafted eight players held on Wednesday, April 18th.
The NA3HL’s yearly eight-round Entry Draft was broadcasted live on the league’s official broadcast partner, HockeyTV.
To be eligible for the draft, amateur players under 21 years of age on December 31, 2018 who are not on an NA3HL squad or are listed on an NA3HL team roster but played less than 10 NA3HL regular season and/or playoff games during the 2017-18 season. Players could not have accepted a tender from an NA3HL team prior to this year’s draft are eligible to be selected in the draft.

The NA3HL, entering their ninth season in 2018-19, is one of USA Hockey’s top sanctioned Tier III Junior hockey leagues and helps train young athletes by having the best coaching, exposure and developmental vehicles available in the country. During this past season, there were over 150 players in the NA3HL who made commitments in college or at the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA).
The league now has teams in 16 states and will be divided into six divisions (Central, Coastal, Frontier, Northeast, South, and West).
The eligible teams made selections in reverse order from their 2017-18 regular season finish based on their winning percentage. The new clubs that didn’t compete last season had their order of selection determined by a lottery.
Undrafted players are still able to participate and are encouraged to come to open tryout camps. There was a total of 286 players that were selected during the draft this year.
The Americans selected four forwards and four defensemen. Great Falls selected defenseman Wyatt Allan with the 29th overall pick in the first round followed by Clement Espinasse, a forward from the Florida Eels (2nd Round), Sammy Adler (Atlanta Fire 18U) (4th Round), Rob Holland and Wyatt Allan’s teammate Zachary Carnes in the fifth round.
Rounding out the eight-round draft for the Americans were Reed Bartling (6th Round), Grant Ziegler (7th Round) and Rafferty Chaney (8th Round).
