GF Tribune: Americans’ McSharry to play college hockey at Iowa State this winter

The Great Falls Americans of the Frontier Division of the North American Tier 3 Hockey League have announced that their leading point-scorer, Payton McSharry, has his collegeiate letter of intent to play college hockey at Iowa State University this fall.

McSharry, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, collected 90 points on 48 goals during the last regular season, and added another five goals and three assists in six playoff games against the B ozeman Icedogs and the Helena Bighorns.Along with Americans’ teammates Viktor Wennberg, Jens Juliussen, Nate Simpson and head coach Greg Sears, McSharry played in theTop Prospects Tournament in Massachusetts this past season.

McSharry came to the Americans in a trade with the Missoula Junior Bruins during the 2017-18 season.

Iowa State, located in Ames, Iowa, plays in the NCAA Div. 1 Central States Collegiate Hockey League, a division of the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
