Drew Scites came up big, stopping 41 of 44 shots throughout the game. The Great Falls Americans took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Garrett Peters.
Michael Fary did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Kyler Mack had a busy night with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Jarett Scheibel delivered for his team with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Hayden Seitz chipped in with 3 assists.
During the first, Scheibel opened the scoring for the Bighorns with a goal at 8:26 with helpers from his linemates, Seitz and Kottmeier.
In the second, Vandenbos answered for the Americans with a goal at 4:13 with helpers from teammates Mack and Parker. Groskops answered for Helena with a goal at 17:07 with assists from Scheibel and Seitz.
In the third period, Houlihan answered for Great Falls with a goal at 1:10. Mack scored a goal at 12:51 with helpers from his linemates, Fary and Vandenbos. Peters quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 13:59. Scheibel answered for Helena with a goal at 18:50 with assists from his linemates, Seitz and Kottmeier. Fary quickly followed with a goal at 19:34.
The Americans’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Scites’ big night as he stopped 41 of the 44 shots he faced. On the other hand, Scites’ counterpart, Battaglia, and the Bighorns’ defense did not have such a great night allowing 4 goals in 25 shots.
This win brings the Great Falls Americans’ record to (32-10-2-0).
